As announced by the Education Minister and the Province of Ontario schools may reopen in the City of Toronto on Tuesday, February 16th. New Haven Learning Centre will continue to provide alternate services in a continuity of care model through our TeleHealth ABA virtual programs until that time, when we plan to resume our in-centre services.

For those families currently not accessing TeleHealth ABA services, we remain committed to creating opportunities to engage you and your child. Please note that New Haven is soon to launch Caregiver-focused Consultation Services, and should you wish to partake in this initiative please contact the centre directly via info@newhavencentre.com . Please note that return dates will be dependent upon resource accessibility which may mean a return date after February 16th, 2021. Each family will receive direct communication prior to February 12th, 2021.

We all have a role to play in supporting the reduction of cases that are holding us back from returning to "normal". Any individual able to stay at home please do so. New Haven will continue to work collaboratively with you in responsibly complying with directives, and we thank you for your patience while we remain committed to offering further communication as new information becomes available.

Be well and stay safe.

New Haven wants to acknowledge how challenging 2021 has started for everyone. We also feel it's critically important to highlight and applaud each and every one of you for the dedication and considerable amount of time you have invested in your child's ongoing development. COVID-19 has put into sharp focus the importance of multi-tasking, flexibility, patience, resilience and parenting like no other time in history. You are your child's champion, and your support of online learning does not go unnoticed, nor does its affect on your day-to-day life and your ability to perform your own job responsibilities.

New Haven strives to support you during these challenging times and is providing an update that will affect you, but please remember that your family is not alone in managing these current circumstances, both in and out of our control. According to the Government of Ontario’s Stay-At-Home Order announced today, New Haven must abide by the requirements and continue to adhere to the government mandated closures.

The order of extended school closures until January 25th has been extended further to February 10th at present, and New Haven Learning Centre, as obligated through our private school designation and non-for-profit services, must continue to delay the return to centre-based services. Please note we are not defined as an essential service, nor early years essential child care centre, and we can provide alternate services in a continuity of care model through TeleHealth ABA virtual programs.

"Effective Thursday, January 14, 2021at 12:01 a.m., the government is issuing a stay-at-home order requiring everyone to remain at home with exceptions for essential purposes, such as going to the grocery store or pharmacy, accessing health care services, for exercise or for essential work. This order and other new and existing public health restrictions are aimed at limiting people's mobility and reducing the number of daily contacts with those outside an immediate household. In addition to limiting outings to essential trips, all businesses must ensure that any employee who can work from home, does work from home." News release, Ontario News, January 12, 2021

New Haven is currently offering only TeleHealth ABA virtual services. For those caregivers and parents not currently participating in our TeleHealth ABA programs, we need to have direct communication with you to schedule TeleHealth services to commence, in order to maintain a continuity of care for your child as the result of more than nearly four weeks without service will no doubt have an direct impact on your child's development. We unfortunately do not control the COVID-19 outbreak, but we can control our responsibility to adjusting to those realities.

For those already receiving TeleHealth ABA services:

No further action is necessary. Services will continue on the same schedule depending on your typical days of service. Should you wish to increase your hours of service, please connect directly with your assigned Clinical Coordinator, and we will do our best to accommodate that request.

For those families currently not accessing TeleHealth ABA services:.

Please communicate directly via email to your assigned Clinical Coordinator in order to schedule times and key service priorities. All OAP families under contract with New Haven are required to participate to ensure continuity of care for their child. For private paying families, please note a continuity of care is equally important and must be considered in planning for the foreseeable future and a return to service that we do not want to include a significant risk of regression. Your Clinical Coordinator will await your email in the coming days to discuss your child's program options.

For those unfamiliar with virtual services, please remember that supports can be offered directly to your child, can be through parent discussion and problem-solving or can be beneficial through participation in caregiver education sessions. Although TeleHealth ABA is not considered optimal programming, it has both research and evidence to support its value and necessity in reducing the impact to development during the COVID-19 pandemic.

All fees for services will be adjusted accordingly as we move forward; recognizing that our staff continue to plan, prepare and problem solve on a daily basis as the circumstances evolve. Please also note that New Haven will work individually with families in the collective intent to reduce further delays in critical development.

Any person able to stay at home has been advised to do so. We will only get through this second state of emergency by complying with regulations and expectations. We look forward to the day we can return to a full complement of services as a direct result of people staying at home and reducing the risks associated with face-to-face community engagement.

New Haven will continue to work collaboratively with you in responsibly complying with directives. We thank you for your patience and resilience, and we remain committed to offering further communication as new information becomes available.

In response to the Ministry of Education and Public Health directives, and our unwavering efforts to maintain healthy and safe work spaces and learning environments, New Haven will begin our services in 2021 remotely. Please note families who wish to receive virtual services will do so beginning from January 5th to 8th, for an initial one week period. We will re-assess the circumstances, requirements, and most responsible approach with further updates provided on or before the 8th of January, 2021.

In response to the Government of Ontario’s order of a 28 day provincial lockdown including extended school closures announced yesterday, New Haven Learning Centre, as obligated through our private school designation and non-for-profit services, must delay the return to centre-based services as originally planned for January 4th, 2021.

We will return from the Winter Break offering only TeleHealth ABA virtual services to all families who have requested as such, starting Tuesday, January 5th, 2021. Our anticipated return to in-centre programming has been suspended until further notice until we are directed otherwise, according to the current lockdown guidelines and our access to facilities.

If you have not yet registered for TeleHealth ABA services, yet wish to commence such remote programs on or after January 5th, 2021, please communicate directly, via email, with New Haven by Monday, January 4th through your assigned Clinical Coordinator. Families who do not have direct communication with New Haven will have their program put on hold until we return to centre-based programs. Please note all fees for services will be adjusted accordingly as we move forward. For new families, this TeleHealth ABA service was offered during the last directed lockdown, and although not optimal, was extremely beneficial in maintaining a continuity of care for the majority of students/clients and offered parent/caregiver training through direct sessions run through the Zoom platform.

We know these directed in-centre closures can be challenging, however New Haven will continue to work collaboratively with you in responsibly complying with directives. We thank you for your patience, resilience, and commitment to a brighter future in 2021. Please note that your service team, management, and care-taking staff are working collectively to continue to maintain our safe environment and will be communicating with you on January 4th to confirm TeleHealth ABA details for those participating in this valued service alternate.

We remain committed to offering further communication as new information becomes available.

Thank you and stay safe.
